French Classroom Rules:
1) Be ready - in your seat, French materials ready and technology away.
2) Be prepared - a student should always have a pencil, his/her homework and a French duo-tang/binder.
3) Be respectful to everyone. We are here to learn and we need to feel safe.
4)Know what type of work we are doing and act appropriately:
- Group work/ Partner work - talking, noisy.
- Individual work - quiet or occasional whispers.
- Classroom discussions/lesson - silence unless you are the speaker.
5) Have fun!
The Penalty Box
Just like in sports, a classroom has rules. Rules exist so that our class can run smoothly and everyone is treated fairly.
Here are the "penalties". These are to be served at recess.
5 minutes
- talking when a teacher or student is speaking to the class.
- talking during quiet time/individual work.
10 minutes
- continuing with a behaviour, after a warning was given.
- not working or wasting class time.
15 minutes or more
- disrespecting another person
- disrespecting classroom or school materials.
- arguing, raising your voice, or responding with a disrespectful attitude.
A student/teacher/principal contract will be written for any student who cannot comply with classroom rules.
